Valley Forge VR

To test live action stereoscopic VR using our Sony a7s rig, we went out Valley Forge Park. We chose this location for its scenic qualities, and to test how our rig would perform in an outdoor setting.

Check it out in VR using a headset such as Google Cardboard or Daydream. If you don't have a headset, you can also view it on your desktop computer in 360 by clicking on the video and dragging it around on Youtube.

We shot at a variety of locations around Valley Forge Park with elements at different distances away from the camera. This was done to get an idea of how the stereoscopic look would appear at certain foreground and background distances.

Back at the studio we stitched the footage in Ptgui.  We used After Effects with stereoscopic previewing using the Oculus Rift DK2. For compositing, we used an anaglyph viewport mode to check that the stereoscopic difference was correct for our composites.
