Two of Britain’s most respected companies, advertising agency DDB UK and financial news leader The Financial Times, sought Klip Collective’s expertise for a three-day interactive projection event inside Manhattan’s storied Grand Central Terminal. Using info-graphics and data about global business issues developed by acclaimed journalist and information designer David McCandless, Klip created an interactive experience in Grand Central’s massive Vanderbilt Hall that included short films and user-controlled 3D projections. Commuters passing through Grand Central could watch these films on a 55 by 32 foot wall, and then interact with the visually rich info-graphics by stepping on a 15 foot square touch-sensitive mat. The choices made by commuters via the mat were processed by a complex media server, which triggered customized animations fed to four projectors. The result was an experience that educated, informed and delighted all who were there to witness it.
